The Principal aim of the Council Secretariat is to execute functions relevent to hold Council meetings requied for fullfilling consitutional procedure in regard to implementation of Provincial development amendment to the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Provincial Council Act.

The main function of the Council Secretariat is to provide facilities for the members of the Western Province Provincial Council to hold the meetings and enable them to participate in public affairs.
