Western Province

VISION

By virtue of the powers vested in the Provincial Council in terms of the 13^th amendment to the constitution of the Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, the Provincial Road Development Authority (W.P) has been legislated by the Statute No. 4 of 1989 and established on 01.01.1990 under the Provincial Minister of Provincial Road Co – operatives, Trade, Food, Water and Electricity to achieve the objectives of the development work of C and D class roads, Bridges and Ferries of Western Provincial Council except of national highways and bridges and ferries of national Highways.

MISSION

The service entrusted to this Provincial Road Development Authority is the construction and maintenance of all C & D class roads of the National Road System situated within the Western Provincial Limits totaling 2000 K.m.

The basic intention of this Authority, which is an institute that invest few hundreds of millions without any profit motive, is to make available a convenient system of road network for the benefit of the whole community.

In addition to the development activities connected with roads, this Authority is always prepared to undertake planning and implementation of various development projects under various departments within the Province of the benefit of the community.

Organization at Head Office

he Provincial Road Development Authority is controlled by a Board of Directors consisting of (7) seven members.The Chairman is one of the Board Member and he is the Head of the Authority.

There is a General Manager for the organization and execution of the powers, functions and duties of the Provincial Authority and for the administrative control of the employees of the Authority.

Following five departments are functioning under the Authority.
