Sunil Abeywardane -  Secretary to the Governor (W.P.)

Full Name : Sunil Abeywardane Service   : Sri lanka Administrative Service - Class I Date of Birth : 27th August 1958

Joined the Sri Lanka Administrative Service as a  Class II Grade II Officer in the year 1984 and held the following positions, Assistant Government Agent, Assistant Director of Textiles, Assistant Controller of Rubber, Assistant Commissioner of Local Government, Special Commissioner of the Dodangoda Pradeshiya Sabha, Divisional Secretary, Director of Public Service Training Institute, Deputy Chief Secretary (Administration) of the Western Province, Secretary of the Ministry of Industries, Sports, Rural Development and Women Affairs of the Western Province, Secretary of the Road Development, Fisheries, Tourism and Housing of the Western Province and as the Charity Commissioner of the Colombo Municipal Council and presently holds the position of Secretary to the Governor of the Western Province. From the year 2001, services as a Senior officer in the Class I of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service and is also a Justice of the Peace for the Whole Island.

He has gained the Bachelor of Arts (Special) Degree in Sociology from the University of Sri Jayawardanepura and has also gained the Post-Graduate Degree MPA (Master & Public Administration) from the Post-Graduate Institute (PIM) of the same University and he has also obtained the Master of Science (MSc) Degree in Rural and Regional Development Planning from the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok in Thailand, exposure in Japan, Canada, India, Pakistan, Singapore, Malaysia, USA, Phillipine.
